| Frequently Asked Questions 1) I would like to discuss these ideas and offer some of my own. What are my options? There
are four venues for discussion. First is commentary within the Blog.
Second is the forum called Caduceus within the Think Tank. Third is
email via the "Contact" button. And fourth, in some cases we will
accept "Posters" from others and post them alongside our own. 2) Why an "Online Think Tank?" Parkinson's
Disease is an extremely complex subject incorporating elements of
immunology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and neurology, just for
starters. As Dr. William Langston has pointed out, we need to approach
PD as more than a simple movement disorder and to draw in scientists in
fields besides neurology. We hope to make a contribution to that goal. 3) There is a lot of work invested here. Who did it and why? The
site itself is the work of Richard (Rick) Everett, aka "parkins1", and
is based on a three-year collaboration with a French surgeon, Anne
Frobert, MD, of Lyon. Thousands of hours of research are represented
here. Because both were themselves PWP, their motivation was high.
Taking advantage of the relatively new powers of communication and of
access granted by the Internet, they formed an extensive and
comprehensive view of PD and present it here as a beginning point for
discussion. |
